Play Time

Although I posted about adding more layers and more colors to my pages, I really like the simple look of this page.  I may end up doing a second page to go with it, because when my boys play with Daddy, it always turns into wrestlemania!  I love to watch them all play together.  I think this file is adorable!  It is Horsey Ride Daddy 2013 found here http://scrappydew.cartloom.com/shop/item/88715  And I mentioned I Loved the hair from the Father's Day file...I used it again for my second boy!

What's Missing

I have been looking at my layouts and I think the thing that I am missing is doing more layers with papers.  I have started watching Youtube videos so I feel more comfortable layering with patterned paper.  I told my husband that I didn't have enough paper.  He looked at me like I was crazy...then he told me I was crazy.  I said I do have a lot of paper, but not the right kinds....he won't ever understand.  But I can create a digital layout much easier than a regular layout (even though I have only done a couple) because I have all the paper I want.  So I am going to start trying to add more layers and dimension to my pages....although I don't want to get too extreme because some of the pages I have seen have SO much detail it is distracting.  While the pages made are beautiful, I still want my scrapbook to be about the pictures, not about the page of embellishments.  I also need to work on my titles and definitely journaling.  I have a hard time with journaling because I can't remember anything anymore.  I need to do better to write things down at the time.

Re-do

I did the Valentine layout and I thought it looked like it was missing something.  The mats were colorful but I didn't want to use more red or more pink and purple wouldn't work, so I didn't give them a background (though now I am thinking I could have used white) I thought that was it.  Looking at the close up pictures...it looks like my boy is cross eyed.  Of course I mentioned that I have been trying different things with the eyes....just so happened that I tried giving the boy eye lashes this time....I think it looked okay but now I have to move his eye which probably won't work with the eyelashes drawn on, so I may have to just re-do him....how embarrassing!  I guess I need to pay closer attention....I keep leaving off the face details too, whites of the eyes or the smiles....

Valentine's Layout

I am posting this tonight because I will be at the doctor with my little guy for most of the day tomorrow and I didn't want to miss posting.  This is a new file and I think it is just adorable.
It is called Kissing Booth and it's found here:  http://scrappydew.cartloom.com/shop/item/113038/kissing-booth-2015/?aff=4

I love the hair on both the boy and the girl, what cute new styles!  This file comes with a lot of different border pieces to choose from.  I didn't stray far from what the pattern design looks like because it is so well done, it is cute just as it is.

First Card

This is my first attempt at making a card.  I thought it was pretty good, until I look at other people's homemade cards and they are SO detailed.  Sometimes scrapbooking can be discouraging...just when you think you are starting to catch on, they add something else and at least for me, I am always behind the latest trends and coolest styles.  But for what I need this card is great and I am happy.  I just need to stop comparing myself to other people.

On to the details of the card.  I LOVE this file Father's Day 2014 http://scrappydew.cartloom.com/shop/item/105708 I think he is just the cutest little guy.  I saw him and knew this would be the perfect file for a Birthday card for my husband.  This is going to sound a little silly but I love the hair.  When you have all boys, there is not much variety in the character files, except the hair.  That is the great thing about Scrappy Dew Files, there are so many different hair styles!  One of these days I am going to get the Scrap Factory so I can just make my own little boys but until then I am grateful there is a nice selection to choose from.  I made the present myself and I believe the balloons came from Birthday Boy Cake Smash 2013 (another really cool file) http://scrappydew.cartloom.com/shop/category/22/birthday.  The balloon streamers are just from ribbon.  I am trying different things with the eyes, I like how these ones turned out!

Birthday

I mentioned that it was my son's birthday, 7!  Where does the time go.  Each year they get to pick what they want their birthday cake to be and I make that for them.  I figured it was crafty so I would post it on here.  This year my son is obsessed with army stuff so he chose a tank cake.  This was the end result and he loved it.  I will have to go back and find the other cakes that I have done and add them on here...eventually.

First DT Post

Last week was my sons birthday and my mind was all over the place.  So for my first scheduled post...I totally forgot to post.  This is not a sign of what is to come, just a sign of the way my week/month has been.  Super crazy.  The birthday however was a success!
So for my actual first post I have this fun winter layout.  I saw these patterns and knew what I wanted to do.  My boys love sledding and Scrappy Dew has a lot of great winter files that are perfect for this.  I used the pattterns Snow Day 2014 found here http://scrappydew.cartloom.com/shop/item/99116 and Snowman Kidz found here http://scrappydew.cartloom.com/shop/item/70053 and although I didn't use this pattern it is similar and super cute called Winter Fun 2014 http://scrappydew.cartloom.com/shop/item/112486/winter-fun-2014

I got everything I needed from the files listed including the snowflakes and the titles!  I just cut some white paper to make the hills for the snow.  I love the way it turned out and I was glad the end result finally matched the image in my head :-)
